ABOUT RICK


Born and raised in the Caribbean, Rick moved to Canada at the age of 17.  His working career began in the construction industry as an apprentice carpenter. He worked with a team to build houses back in the ‘70s. Rick learned at a young age that if you want something in life, you have to work for it. So that’s what he did - he worked hard.


In 1979, Rick returned to university and earned a degree in Computer Science with distinction and a second degree in Education.


After graduation, He worked in the IT industry, and in 1987 started and ran a successful software company. In 1992, Rick’s company was chosen by the Alberta Medical Association as one of four preferred suppliers out of over 160 vendors to supply more than 1,400 medical doctors with a software solution for their practice. Approximately 600 of these became his clients.  In 1999, he sold the company to a publicly traded company, which after several mergers was bought out by Telus.


In 2001, Rick took a different direction because of what he believes is his calling in life. He went to Bible school, served full-time as a youth minister, and continues to work with young people. In his free time, you will often find him out with the church young people, or down by the Fraser River playing his guitar.  He and his wife Betty have opened their home for students from a Christian club at the University of British Columbia to come over for weekly supper and Bible study.  Oh yes, you can often find Rick in the kitchen cooking up a Caribbean dish to share with guests.  Rick also values spending quality family time with his son Philip who works as a software developer.  


In 2010, Rick got his Real Estate License and began working as a REALTOR®. Because of his learning-based mindset, in the nine years of his real estate career he has become a Coach and Trainer. Because of his strong technical background, he is also a Tech Ambassador in his market center.  As a REALTOR®, he strives to help his clients achieve their real estate goals and better their lives. He also seeks ways to help new agents grow their business and achieve their goals by providing real value to their clients. To this end, Rick is currently pursuing Keller Williams University Certification.


Rick presents this book in hope of providing real value to his clients, their families, and their friends and looks forward to helping them accomplish their real estate plans. His personal business goal is to Make Dreams Come True One Home at a Time.  Here is what some of his clients say:

How to Sell Hard to Sell Homes

 

Have you ever heard of an “unsellable home”? There’s no such thing… when a home doesn’t sell it can normally be traced back to a simple mistake (or two) that could have been easily avoided.


The common myth that some people may want you to believe is that the price is the reason why a home isn’t selling. Of course, you could sell any home if you gave it away but that’s not the point here. The point is “the price” normally is NOT the reason that homes don’t sell.


I meet homeowners every day who have had someone give them bad advice and try to convince them that “you just need to drop the price and your home will sell”... I’m tired of people thinking that dropping the price is the only way to sell a hard to sell home. This is such a common issue that I wrote a book about how to solve it!


In my book about the Formula to Selling ANY Home, I reveal how to get hard to sell homes sold for top dollar fast. My goal with this book is to give you the information you need to look at the problems first and the price last.

 

Of course, at times, when all of the problems that have caused a home not to sell have been fixed, a price adjustment may be needed, if the home is still not moving. But the price is NOT what I start with unless everything else is perfect (which rarely happens).
